ABOUT US

Ecycl, founded by Sahithi Radha and Diya Loka is a Hyderabad-based NGO with a powerful mission. E-cycl is a student-led initiative that addresses the e-waste problem by conducting awareness seminars and nationwide collection drives.

Co-founders Sahithi and Diya, both 16 years old, are passionate about youth climate action and environmental advocacy. Their vision is to expand globally, open new chapters, and make a lasting impact on youth worldwide, all while addressing the urgent e-waste crisis.

E-cycl fosters community, education, and awareness, striving to keep children out of the e-waste labor force and improve educational opportunities for government school students in South India.

This journey began with a simple idea and has evolved into a symbol of youth-driven change, committed to creating a greener future for all.

 What's E-Waste?

E-waste, discarded electronics, are one of the fastest-growing waste streams in India, with a growth rate of 10 percent per annum. The generation of e-waste is increasing exponentially every year. The growth can be attributed to the globalization of the economy that makes electronic products an integral part of our lives. Also, India’s low manufacturing costs, skilled labor, raw materials, availability of engineering skills, and opportunity to meet demand in the populous Indian market have contributed significantly to facilitating the growth of the electronics industry. Thus, e-waste management has become an immediate as well as a long-term concern as its unregulated accumulation and recycling can lead to major environmental problems endangering both human health and the well-being of other creatures.

How Do We Do It?

  • A School/Office/Community is onboarded first.

  • A small team is formed to become the campus ambassadors of E-cycl.

  • The team creates awareness and coordinates the aggregation of e-waste collected

  • E-Cycl facilitates the collection and storage of e-waste at school during the drive.

  • Once the campaign has ended, E-Cycl's partner recyclers step in, weigh the waste procured, and pick it up for proper recycling.

  • Then they are ranked according to their contribution and the top teams are rewarded with recognition from our Corporate and recycling partners for their top contributions.
